KidStuff
is a child safety restraint seat distribution system serving very- low
and low-income families of Leon and surrounding counties who have children
less than five years of age.
Low-income families often cannot afford child car seats and of those who
do purchase them, many get older and less safe devices. As child safety
restraint seats have proven their effectiveness in protecting young children,
it seems critical that all families receive them for their
children.
Recipients
are certified low income by the Department of Children and Families and
must possess a current benefits card. Referrals are received from social
service agencies, day care centers, the health department, friends who
have received a restraint seat in the past, and from Telephone Counseling
and Referral Service.
Those interested in applying arrive at the LSS offices, complete an intake
form, pay $10.00, and receive a restraint seat in the original shipping
carton.
